I make my covers on 11 by 17-inch paper. This accommodates up to a 4-inch spine but does not allow an inside flap for an Author Bio. A 10-signature book has about a 1-inch spine. The spine text should appear centered vertically and horizontally. The front and back designs are up to you though, as you will see in Step Five, an inch is needed to fold under each Davey board cover. Also, remember that most designs employ Golden Rectangles to hold the contents.
